The guesthouse is a newly renovated bungalow. There is a lovely sun porch and deck with BBQ, a place to drink your morning coffee, listen to the ocean, the birds and enjoy the quiet, or have a glass of wine and listen to the chorus of frogs in the nearby pond in the evening.
The kitchen is fully equipped with electric stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, teakettle, and all the cooking utensils you will need to feel at home. Starter cooking supplies are provided, such as rich coffee, teas, sugar, all purpose and whole wheat flour, spices, cooking and salad oil, and a dozen farm fresh eggs from our chickens.
The living/dining room has a pine ceiling, wood flooring, and comfy couches that call to you to curl up with a good book. Included is a futon for extra guests. There is a dining table, chairs for eight, an eclectic selection of books, CD’s and player, and TV with DVD player (new TV with USB connection). While we have no television reception, there is a great selection of movies for your enjoyment. This is truly a cozy yet spacious place to relax after a busy day of exploring these mystical islands.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, lots of closet/ drawer space and a fully appointed ensuite bathroom with tub and shower. The second bedroom has twin beds, lots of closet space, with another full bathroom directly across the hall.
Washer and dryer, plus a freezer are provided (we’re only minutes away from the famous Tlell river fall coho run).
Internet:
Included is wireless High Speed Internet available in the guest house. Due to bandwidth capacity in the provider’s system, we ask that you please don’t download/upload movies and other large files. An extra surcharge may be requested if our I-net charges greatly increase during your stay.
Nearby Amenities:
Salt Spray Explorers – our family fishing and exploration charter service.
It is a leisurely five minute walk to the front of the property and the ocean. The Crow’s Nest (a café plus general store) and the post office are located there. You will find the store stocks most of your needs including liquor and DVD rentals.
Gift stores nearby include Crystal Cabin and Sitka Studio, both featuring the excellent creations of local artisans. Also, Ernie Burnett has a woodworking shop where you can view the work of a skilled craftsman.
Things to Do:
Tlell has several hiking trails as well as miles of beaches to explore. The beautiful Anvil Trail in the forest along the Tlell River is just a fifteen minute walk from the house. And it’s a quick 5-minute drive to the dunes of Naikoon Provincial Park, or to the head of the Pesuta Trail. Situated mid-island, Tlell is only a 35 minute drive to Queen Charlotte at the south end of the island, and 45 minutes to Masset at the north end, so it’s a great central location. We provide lots of brochures and maps for the significant sights to visit.
Special Tlell Events:
- Fall Fair – first weekend in August
- Edge of the World Music Festival – second weekend in August
- Tlell river coho run – September and October
